"”How’s the baby?"”

How’s the baby?

Insane in the Membrane

Its an appropriate question. It is a question that Heather and I get all the time. We say, “she’s great” and “she sure loves life.” You know, all the things that seem correct. But lets be honest . . .

that baby’s crazy!

Faith

Whenever my faith in God wavers I imagine the incredible force that created the universe. I think of all the atoms that were destroyed and all the elements that were pieced together. The gravities, pressure and circumstance that molded the earth, then seeded it from comets, gave it water and spun it with a perfect celestial match - our moon - around the sun. Our sun, one star from billions. I dream of the rise of man. Of all of those societies that formed and fell and were replaces by others. Of countless generations that came together and oftened warred with one another to form nations. I think about all the people who had to meet just at the right time. All the paths that each one of our thousands of ancestors had to take in exactly the right order so that my wife & I would one day meet at a high school in Tallahassee, FL

And so today I would be able to hold our child in my hands.

Quotes I like

Arthur C. Clarke on technology

"Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic."

Richard Feynman on technology -

"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled."

The Ultra Sound

Heather & I went to get one of those 4-D Ultra Sounds of the baby. What's 4-D? Well, apparently its 3-D with the added dimension of annoying a fetus with high intensity sonic waves. After the first half-hour, Little Ms. Fisher covered her head with both her hands and feet! (She's got her mother's feet)

But everything is well within the good ranges, we had a momentary scare this week when Heather tested high on a blood-glucose test. But after a 3-hour follow-up everything looks amazing. They are both very healthy women.
